You Have Questions? We Have Answers!
Over the years we’ve received and answered a lot of questions raised by our players and parents. Some questions are very simple, and others require a bit more explanation. Our goal is to make participation in the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association an exciting and fun-filled experience for everyone involved.
We have listed below a few of the most frequently asked questions. Just click the “+” sign to toggle open the answer to each question. Q. Why has one of my kids been accepted but not the other? Or why has my child not been accepted?
A. Based on handbook policy, at least three (3) juniors are required to create an age division. If there are not at least three (3) juniors in an age division, they will remain on the pending registration until there are enough to be accepted. A junior may have the chance to “play-up” if there is availability in the above age division. This can be decided after registration closes, and you will be notified on the availability.
Q. What tees will my child be playing? Or what are the expected yardages?
A. After many years working with all levels of play by our junior golfers, and taking into account their ages and gender, we have created a table of course yardages that juniors can be expected to play in tournaments throughout the islands. The table below should provide you and your juniors the information needed to set expectations.

Q. I am trying to register for a tournament, but it will not let me. It says I am not “tournament ready.” What do I do?
A. To be “tournament ready” means that the junior has taken and passed the annual rules quiz and has an active GHIN. Once both of these tasks are completed an HSJGA staff member will manually mark your junior as tournament ready.

If you need help creating or activating your GHIN, please reach out to us at info@hsjga.org and let us know. Please note that if your juniors GHIN was created by another association, we cannot activate it. You will have to contact the other association for activation.
